Covid 19 – Local Information

The St Athan Community Council strongly supports our wonderful NHS, emergency services, our local shops/businesses and the community itself, who are staying safe as well as those supporting their neighbours that may be more vulnerable.

For those in our community that need some extra help and have no other way of picking up essential items during this unprecedented situation we have a number you can call 07826 799604 during normal office hours 9am to 5pm

Please call this number if you need help or can offer to help as a volunteer.

However, this is only for local help, if you are unwell you need to ring the emergency services, NHS 111 or seek current advice from NHS

During these times it is most important to watch out for our neighbour, if you are able. This will ensure no one slips through the net.
Remember not everyone is on the Internet, so please pass on these details via a phone call.

Covid 19 – Disability Sport Wales

Disability Sport Wales and he Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Healthy Living Team have noticed there isn’t a huge amount of content out there for disabled people when it comes to exercising at home.

In response to this Disability Sport Wales have created a You Tube Channel where updates will be posted regularly with ideas on adaptive exercises and games that can take place at home.

The link to the channel is:

Please could you also share the channel with anyone who you think it may benefit, there will be activities for children and adults coming out over the next few weeks.

I would also advise people who are interested to visit the Healthy Living Teams Social Media Pages as inclusive activities have been posted every day since last Monday.

Coronavirus Grants for Vale of Glamorgan Businesses (20.03.2020)

Below is a message from the Vale of Glamorgan Council :Coronavirus Business Grants

We are awaiting further clarification from Welsh Government as to how coronavirus financial support will be distributed to Vale of Glamorgan businesses. £1.4bn of funding has been made available to businesses in Wales.

We have been told today that non repayable grants for small businesses will be distributed by the Vale of Glamorgan Council. We have produced a flow chart which should indicate whether or not your business is eligible. Further information will be available next week.

We anticipate that businesses will need to provide a copy of their lease, business bank statement and a recent business utility bill in order to confirm that they occupy the premises. If you are a small business and you think you are eligible for support, please start to pull this information together now in order to prevent any delays. This may involve contacting your landlords to request the information. Our aim is to get this funding to businesses as soon as possible.

In this unprecedented economic crisis, the Vale of Glamorgan Council will be keeping businesses updated with the latest information on Coronavirus via the Council’s Coronavirus Business Support web page. This will be updated on a regular basis.
